Inlays and Onlays
To restore normal tooth structure after any damage two methods known as onlays and inlays are used. They are more traditional than a crown. They are unlike a standard filling as they are both made in a laboratory. During a second visit they are bonded or cemented to the surface of the tooth. Onlays and inlays unlike standard fillings actually strengthen the tooth structure instead of weakening it. The tooth will have more chewing force after the procedure.
When the tooth formation is restored within the tips of the tooth an inlay is done. An onlay is done if the dent is broader.
